ABC introduces new show, “Selfie”

A new show on the ABC network introduced its new series,“Selfie,” which premiered on September 30, 2014.  The new series is a modern twist on a 1912 Pygmalion, written by George Bernard Shaw.  The show stars Karen Gillan as Eliza Dooley and John Cho as Henry Higgs.  Eliza Dooley is a woman who strives to become famous through various social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other sites.

The first episode opens with Eliza making a fool of herself in front of all of her coworkers on an airplane.  These co-workers took pictures of her and taint the superstar reputation that she had tried so hard to build.  After this mortifying event, Eliza finds herself lonely and dreadful.  All of her “friends” do not come to console her or offer any companionship.  Eliza discovers her company’s marketer who excels in changing an image of a product.  She seeks his help seeing as that he can change her into a better person by improving her perspective and her image.  The show hints future romantic chemistry between the two as they become closer despite initial impressions.

Junior Kyndall Ting commented, “The show is not good, and the show will get cancelled.”  However,  junior Allison Tam says, “The show is really hilarious.”  These comments may or may not change since these are only the reviews after one episode.

The show has received high and low praises, but only future episodes and viewings will determine whether the show will be cancelled or preparing for season two.
