On Friday, November 20, Mark Keppel’s orchestra performed a flash mob at Atlantic Times Square to promote their winter concert.

Their short performance of the song “Jesu: Joy of Man’s Desiring” started with a single student, senior Steven Truong, playing the violin.  More students gradually joined in the song a few students at a time. In the end, a few more students passed out flyers for their concert and held up posters.

“I really like this experience because some people looked completely shocked to see an orchestra out in the open,” said freshman Kaitlyn Luong. “From the way it turned out, there will be many more flash mobs in the next years as well.”

The instrumental winter concert will be on Friday, December 11 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 presale from any guitar, drumming, band, or orchestra student, and $7 at the door.
